hi, my name is vinnie and i was talking to a friend of mine today, she works on a kind of farm. she said they have more ducks than chickens, they collect the duck eggs for eating well lets cut to the chase, how often do ducks lay eggs? is it every day? whats the deal? thanks vinnie

ducks are somewhat seasonal layers.. but in season they can and often do lay about an egg per day..

duck eggs are slightly larger than most chicken eggs..

and yes, there is a breed that would give a chicken a run for the money in eggs per year..

many bakers like duck eggs over chicken eggs for baking.. I have no first hand experience except that my wife's angel food cake is better with chicken eggs..

Several duck varieties are better layers than chickens. For example the Indian runner can lay 275-340 eggs per year

That is a lot of eggs!

I now prefer duck eggs over chicken eggs for eating whether it be scrambled or fried for breakfast or in baked goods. Plus my girls lay their eggs by 7:30 a.m. every day, no waiting around half the day, like my chickens!

When our girls started laying it was an egg a day. 4 went broody so we have been getting 3-4 a day. 2 have given up their nest, so I'm expecting 5-6 a day soon. Duck eggs are great! We have gotten a lot of people turned on to duck eggs. We make the deviled eggs for any party we go to. Just sold 2 dozen to our neighbor. Not sure if it is true or not, must have it check out with a doctor, but I've read that some people who are allergic to chicken eggs can eat duck eggs just fine.

Thats true. I think taht it was people with Autism? That couldnt eat chicken eggs originally and so ate duck eggs instead

My khaki campbells are supposed to lay an egg a day give or take with time off for molting. They havnt started laying yet but I have reserched it and thats what I have come up with.

It is at least partly true, I supply a woman that can't eat chicken eggs at all. She can eat 2 duck eggs per day with no problems but has limited herself there because "I don't to push my luck"
