The shells on duck eggs look and feel different that chicken eggs. They are smooth and almost waxy while chicken eggs have a texture (like drywall). Duck eggs have a different sort of splotchiness (not really a word
) than a chicken egg. Chicken egg splotches look like speckles duck egg splotches look like a thin layer of mud that can't be washed off or like you could almost see through the egg in that spot.
