oh oh, does that make me an "un -hick" or a "worse than hick" because we do raise ours strickly for the freezer? I guess it's back to store bought for us??? not on your life!

I try not to worry about it but when im singled out that's when my hackles get raised and I want to *inform* them why I do what I do. That I'm not lazy and what not

You're probably evil to them for that. If I had more room I'd raise A & Ms and Jumbos just like you as well on the side of my genetic hobby for eating

I'd Love to have quail once a week (if not more)! LOL

I grew up for years as a city girl and we moved to the country when i was a teenager. Now I get so tickled at the city slickers and just go thank my parents for moving all those years ago

Im proud to be a "hick" as long as it's not said in a hurtful or hateful way. According to my hubbies school, my school was referred to as the "hillbillies" so lol...

i'd DEFFINATLY rather be a hick than live in the city... I like tall trees over tall buildings.

But to those who do to each their own

I likes being a hick

Keeps uppity types away...report you to who? That is just what we need the quail police running around making sure everyone does it someone else's way...who gets to pick the way? Maybe we could have multiple folks running around enforcing contradictory rules! That sounds fun!

I raise many birds on wire...let's see why...they don't walk in their own poop, never seen wire get a bug infestation, eggs roll to the front for easy retrival, I am not constantly replacing the flooring (yes I compost my shavings but really which is probably "greener") Just my thoughts...

I bet my breeder pens would be considered "battery cages" by some...but the birds can walk around, lay down, heck...I have had issues catching them in there...especillly the last two in one...but that might be because my arm doesn't turn around on itself

I say copy this and post it for them or give them a link!

By the way...quail on the pit, fried quail, quail as hot wings, ever tried quail jerkey? UMMMM I likes meat! Hope that adds to my hickness! And I drive a beat-up 4x4 pick-up! No snuff, chaw, or dip! NASTY!!

My mountain quail are in a old rabbit hutch with a wire bottom. I was told by the breeder I bought them from to keep them up on wire. So I guess that make both of us Hicks? Don't let them get to you.

thanks for your reasoning!!!! I know I wouldnt consider your pens a battery cage just by the discription. If the birds can move lay down and walk around, I'd say you're safe atleast from us hicks
