. I just got started a cpl weeks ago found this site it is wonderful lol. But i have 17 of these and idk what they are
 
It really depends on how they are kept. These birds can live years but they are bulky and big breasted so it is not recommended to keep them past a certain amount of weeks. They grow fast and taste so good lol. As far as laying goes you will possibly get eggs out of them but they are not an egg laying breed if you wanted eggs I would recommend something like a heritage breed or bantams. If you buy a dual purpose bird such as an Orpington, or RIR then you will be set.
 
RIR what i wanted but my grandad got them for me pretty much for free young birds too. I like chicken just as much as eggs lol thanks
 
Free usually means roosters which they look like roosters as well. If they are cornish X, you will probably start having problems with them related to their size and growth. Plan on butchering them by about 16 weeks is that's what they are and then pick up some layers.
 
By their body shape and big feet. That's how I tell they look a lot different from say a RIR or a White Leghorn. They are created for meat and have a lot of it.
