I'm a new owner of a he.

Hello and welcome to BYC :frow
My pullet Hazel gets cross with me when I clean her coop. Shes free ranging while I do it but as soon as she notices shes not happy about it but I just give her a treat and shes happy again.

As for her being by herself. I agree with the previous posts. She needs a friend or 2. I would go with 2. Hazel is on her own at the moment until my chicks are old enough to join her. But every time I let her free range she checks on the chicks the whole day so I can see she misses having a flock.

Anyways lovely to meet you and hope to see more of you.

Welcome! :frow
You can clean it after you let her out.
She won’t have to feel spooked by the rake that way.
Chickens are birds so they do get scared by things but as others have said they get over it.
My feeder fell off the milk crate it sits on and my rooster carried on like something terrible had happened lol.
I just picked it up and put it back and they started eating the spilled pile of feed.
No worries ;)

I highly recommend finding a good book about raising chickens so you can familiarize yourself with them.
Being on BYC helps too.[
