Im a newbie to it all HELP!!

You are going to hatch them in your bedroom? You will hear them alright. They make alot of noise! As soon as they pip you should hear them just fine. If you brood in the bathroom keep in mind that you will need a light or heater for them 24/7. And they make alot of dust! If you use shavings, you should cover the bottom with shelf liner or papertowels for the first few days. They need a grippy surface to get traction. Newspaper is too slippery. And get chick starter feed .Medicated or not, it must be starter formula. Medicated is to control diarrhea, not other diseases. Plan on them being in the brooder for at least 6 weeks. You gradually decrease the heat weekly. They will grow feathers and lose the fluff (remember the dust?) Depending on how many hatch, you may have to move them to a bigger brooder as they grow.
Read up on the details of brooding. It is such a great experience. Good luck with the hatch!

well I have 5 cats LOL and they have been sleeping on my bator!! so I moved it into my bedroom lol....Can I use a plastic tub for them? Ill probably move them into the garage when they need to go into the brooder...lol we only have 1 cat in there and hes completely blind lol....I have 1 lamp for them I only have like 9 eggs and expecting at minimum 7 to hatch....I hope lol Ill get the medicated feed and also they need water too? do I use a small water from the feed store?? is that the safest?? im so excited!!

OK I have a few questions....Im so new to this...I put my eggs in the incubator on Sunday the 22nd. I don't remember how many I put in there I think close to 12. most are Rhode Island reds and sex link hens, my rooster is a frizzle hah gonna be fuzzy chickies I hope....

We want them for eggs and such and as pets....my question is lastnight my kids and I candled some eggs, I saw like 6-7 and I can see the chick and the red blood vessels and in others I can see a darker spot but no blood vessels....should I be worried??? I put them all in at the same time my incubator is a little giant, its not a auto turner so my kids and I have been turning them 3 times a day, they are on their sides....is that a issue?? my temp is 99.5-99.8 however one day is got to 110 for a an hour or so, before my bf caught it and fixed it, my humidity is a 50-55%. would today be considered day 6? or day 5?....

are my chicks ok to hatch in the incubator?? I work 8-5 mon thru fri so If they hatched at home while im working I wouldn't know.....my bf works graveyard so hes home but sleeps...
another question, when they are starting the hatch whats the difference between PIP? and hatching??? Why can you not open the lid until they are completely done hatching???

thanks so much and sorry for all the questions...this is my first batch lol
Okay, first off, I set my eggs on the 20th of Feb, I am guessing you are referring to feb. They need to go on lockdown soon I would think. Yes! No candling or turning today! They can hatch anyday!!! The big blob is because you are at 18days, the chick is big!

They are fine in the incubator, they have a yolk sac to preserve them for 3days, no need to open the incubator to get 'em out and risk shrink wrapping other chicks.
Pip is when they make a small hole to breath through, and they can rest for up to 8 hours. Zipping is when they make a crack around the egg. They may take a break, then later with one final kick they'll be out of the egg!!! My very first egg hatched literally hour or two ago!
You cannot open the incubator, because you risk lowering humidity and shrink wrapping the chicks and DO NOT ASSIST HATCHING!!!

:D Let us know how it goes!

I woke up this AM and I had set my chicks in Lockdown mode, I woke up andm y temp was 105-107 and humidity was at 60%! I freaked out....my incubator tempter thing I think was messing up because I was trying to adjust it and the light wasn't coming on....finally got it all back under control but I cant seem to keep my humidity above 65% I have 2 wet sponges and a cup with a sponge and water lol and it wont stay!!
both vent holes are open as well...I was told to leave those open for fresh air....I hope they hatch...last night I had did my last candling and saw some moving and some not, but they are so big now I cant see much anyways lol...I have 9 eggs and ill be happy is 5 hatch!
