I have had chickens for about 2 years now and often came BYC for answers to my questions. I just decided to join one day although I have to admit I am not a die hard computer person. Anyway, I have two Astralops, five white Cochins, two Anaconas, one RI and one Cherry, My Roo is a Butternut and the sweatest Roo I have ever seen. A real fretter. If he can't see his girls he'll start bellowing until they all come running. I also have 5 ducks; 3 Harliquins and 1 Roan and one mix. The information that I have gotten from this site has been invaluable especially the tips on worming. I prefer the natual way with pumpkin seed soup but the tube horse roundworm wormer is very convenient. I originally came from a large city came out to the country when I was a kid. More suburban now than country. Others around me think I'm crazy with my chickens and ducks that is until they get some eggs. Their comments " Boy you sure can tell the difference between the store eggs and the doz you gave me. They were great" Now I just have to find a way to get them to pay for them. I get the impression they think they grow on trees. lol Anyway it feels good to be associated with other chicken people. Hello to all and again I really appreciate all the knowledge. > Maggie

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you have a really nice flock! Fresh eggs do taste better than store eggs!

Welcome to BYC, Maggie! Its an awesome website.

And yes, since having chickens I guess I could be called an "egg snob". Once you have the yummy flavorful eggs, store-bought just don't taste good anymore lol.

Thanks Kelsie,
Yep I'm afraid I've become addicted to my chickens. Thanks for the shout out.

Hi, Maggie, welcome to BYC. I'm far from a 'computer person', but with use this forum becomes very easy to navigate.

Welcome to BYC!

Yes, can't beat home grown eggs right from under your hens! Store bought eggs just pale next to your own flocks eggs.

Make yourself at home here on BYC and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Welcome to our flock!
