Greetings from Australia. A friend of mine linked me to this site when I asked her for help in naming a chicken coop I just purchased. I've never owned chickens before and am enjoying learning all I can about keeping them while I wait for my coop to arrive. I want a few chickens primarily for eggs, but. would like the option to enter them in shows if I desired. I'm thinking about getting some Silver laced Wyandottes and would love to hear any tips/advice from anyone who keeps Wyandottes.

Welcome to BYC!

I don't keep these birds, so I can't help you much there. But here is a great thread on the Silver Laced Wyandottes that you might like to join in on!....

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! TwoCrows gave you some great links to get you started. I don't show mine either, but do like my Wyandottes, have mostly blue laced reds but in general they have nice temperaments, are decent layers 4/5 week, the hens tend to be pretty calm and people oriented and don't do much flying as adults. They are good duel purpose birds... really like the roosters as flock roosters, good to the hens and pretty watchful and have been good with people.
