So we have a 15 week old speckled Sussex cockerel - right? He has the pointy tail, a bit of irradescence, and saddle feathers. But his comb is still fairly small and pink. My Buff Orpington has a redder comb than he does (she may be a week older). Is he just late developing? When will his comb and wattles get bigger and red? Is he secretly a she?? Haha thank you!

See how the saddle and hackle feathers are rounded at the tips? You’ve got yourself a 100% lady. A cockerel would have very obviously pointed feathers in those locations and at 15 weeks would have a MASSIVE bright red comb and wattles!

Oh my gosh! We have spent the last 9 weeks thinking we had a cockerel! Especially when it started having iridescent feathers. Well that is amazing news, although we weren't too bummed to have a Sussex Rooster ;)

Definitely a Pullet. I just got rid of two SS Cockerels the same age as yours and they definitely were huge. Your Pullet looks just like my three..

Thank you! It's definitely been interesting learning about the different breeds as they mature. We got 6 different kinds to see which one(s) we like the best, and the SS is super outgoing and curious which we like!
