I'm afraid it's going to be a long winter

53 here this morning. My apple tree is dropping leaves all ready. We had just a few warm days here too. It never really felt like summer. We had snow (yes, really) about 2 hours from here 2 weeks ago!

Ive always wanted to move to Montana. Are the winters super harsh there?

The winters aren't as bad as they were when I was a kid. We don't get near as much snow any more. When I was in school we had several snow days a year. Last spring was the first time my son had a snow day. He is 14!

Really though you get used to them. They can feel really long sometimes but this is such a beautiful state. I have lived in Oregon, my DH has lived in Alaska, while we agree they are both wonderful states , Montana is just home! Come visit!!

When you do see a wooly worm, would you let me know? I haven't seen one since I moved here. Not sure there are any.
I still have a few hummingbirds at my feeders.

I sure will let you know! They seemed to have declined here but I still see a couple in the fall although i can never remember which stripe signifies the "hard" winter. Is it the more black it has on it, the harder the winter will be?

We're still 100 degrees hot here .. but I've seen birds flying south ... in those pretty v formations ...

It's been pretty cool here almost all summer. I've noticed some trees changing already, and I have seen one of my chickens eating a wooly caterpillars. LOL
I also noticed the birds nesting low, which I was taught that means a snowy winter. They did the same thing last year, and we had a lot of snow

I like snow though, so the more the better for me!

I am getting scared! The past 2 mornings were cold here and August is always brutal with heat here. It usually doesn't feel this cool until middle of DECEMBER???!!!! I hate to be cold and I am feeling a viciously cold winter coming on
