and Welcome To BYC! The BYC Learning Center is a great place to start. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center You might want to post in the Maryland thread to see what works for people in your area. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/63745/maryland-thread and when trying to narrow down breeds, the BYC Breeds section has member reviews on a lot of breeds.

Welcome to BYC. Kelsie provides two great starting points.

I'm actually not sure which breed, I was reading some information in a facebook group I found and that is how I found this website. I am rather new to this particular layout in a forum, I hope I can get it down..

Hello

:welcome, I am new to BYC also, but have found everyone very friendly & helpful on this site. To me if you are just starting out with chickens & are wanting a lot of eggs, like you need, I would look at Rhode Island Reds & Black Astrolops. Both have great egg production & are easy chickens for someone just starting out. That is just my thought, someone else might have a better suggestion.

Good luck & I am sure you will enjoy raising chickens, they can be a lot of fun. If I can be of any help, please let me know.
