I have five chickens two red stars, RIR, and two leghorns. My three brown birds are laying and the leghorns are going into the nest boxes but not doing anything. Shouldn't they be laying by now. All five birds are around 5 1/2 months old. The leghorns are very healthy and very tame.

They should be laying soon. Every breed is different.

Don't worry. They will lay eventually.

My father in law and I got 25 day old chicks and split them. We kept them together for the first three months and then I brought 13 home with me. One turned out to be a roo. He began getting eggs first and more eggs every day still. We feed them the same feed because I buy all the feed at the co-op. Go figure!
