Got tired of opening pop door so I took the advice of purchasing automatic door. Also took the advice of getting hot wire. Got everything hooked up. Put a timer on the door to open at 715am & close at 800pm. Well, yesterday evening all the chickens were in the coop pop door shut. I plugged in the hot wire & off to bed. Woke up and started thinking wholly shiiiiiiii the hot wire is on the pop doors up their gonna be fried. Ran out to the coop & all was well .? is how do y'all control both gadgets. Right now I'm having to run an extension cord to the coop but this will change. Another thing is I only have one timer & its not weather proof. Its probably a simple solution but I can't figure the solution. I'm not good with electronic stuff.

Is the hot wire across the pop door? if not, it should be fine. A chicken touches the wire and should back off...how strong is the voltage on the hotwire?

Give some more info on the setup and we can try to help.

I like the pop door idea, did you make it yourself or buy one?
