I'm Done Selling Eggs Online

I'm sorry you went through that, sometimes it's just not worth it to do business with Ebay or other similar sites. I have bought eggs and some garden items on Ebay, but I did it reluctantly.
And products was so so. I still prefer going to a store and knowing what I'm buying.

With the Pandemic I saw a huge increase in business. Unfortunately, I have had to deal with scammers, especially on Ebay. These are usually people who buy rare breeds. I guess they think its a way to make a fast buck. Well, I have news for them. Its a lot of work, and expense. That's why my eggs cost more than common breeds. It would be too funny if these scammers who are getting my eggs without paying for them have to deal with scammers once they start selling eggs.

Someone bought an order of these eggs and soon afterwards I got a message saying that she (the customer) thought the box I shipped her eggs in was too small and that her eggs were "internally damaged". That's a claim I get (internal damage) , from scammers who know they can use it with Ebay, and Ebay will believe them. There's also no way they can prove it, other than to say the eggs didn't hatch.

This time, I looked up the Buyer because the claims she made were so creative. I found out the Buyer also sells on Ebay. She sells the Hatching spray which is a total scam. Its a big crock of *&^%^ that you can't affect the health of a developing chick by spraying vitamins on its shell. This woman also was a felon, convicted of scamming the US Government in a mining claim scheme. According to the record, she repeatedly made false statements to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) over a two year period. I notified Ebay Customer Service about this, but they ignored it. Why should they care? They're not even located in the US. It does show a history of scamming, but all they want to do is get the complaint to go away. Since Covid19, you can't even speak to an agent, you have to communicate with them through email. Most of their communications come via form letters. None of it seems to come from a real person.

I just can't afford to keep shipping rare eggs to people who don't pay for them. I can't afford to keep feeding animals this way. I have to make the initial investment, build housing, buy feed, and care for them day after day, even though I'm getting scammed and these people are getting free eggs compliments of Ebay. I wish there was a viable alternative, but there isn't unless you have time to build a brand, a presence on the web, and waste time on social media postings. Sorry, I'm just not into that. I raise animals, that's what i want to do, and selling the eggs was simply a way to help me afford my hobby. But I'm done.
That is infuriating dont you just want to reach through the phone and strangle those jerks

this happened to my daughter with a michael kors watch, the scammer said it was damaged and ebay required a return, once they had a tracking number ebay refunded them, they back a box with a yarn bracelet and got a beautiful watch for free and my daughter was out all the shipping costs on top of it.......ebay had already ruled in the buyers favor, tough luck

Ebay has a lot of problems.

Have you tried making sure you only accept orders from people with a certain number of minimum orders.

Wow, I had no idea!
I thought most people would just file a claim through USPS (priority is insured for $50.00) if the contents were damaged as far as eggs go.
I have done this before when USPS decided to shove a box of smashed leaking eggs into my box!
Do these people do both?
I would be curious to check on that and make sure they were double tapping the system and actually getting paid by both ebay and the post office!!
I am truly sorry that you are being taken advantage of, that’s sad you can’t continue selling eggs online anymore.

I've heard of hatcheries claiming the insurance often.

You raised some good questions.

Sorry this happened to you 😡. It is unfortunate that people like that ruin so many things for hard working honest people. I have never used Ebay, because I never liked they way they were set up. It just looked like a real crap shoot to try and buy something. Looks like selling isn't so good either.

Well I better explain. I put up a bad example. But outside of Chinese sellers I have had many good experiences. I usually don't have bad experiences if I stick to people who are doing the same thing with few changes.

Hope that helps.

But I don't know if eggs work that have gone through the mail. I've had a lot of bad luck with them.

But my best drake, is a gray runner. He came from mailed eggs but was the only one I've gotten to hatch. But when he came out he's the most friendliest and comes up to me because of imprinting when he came out of shell.

So, I've had mostly very good success on eBay - I've sold a few things and only 2x had a problem - but did not end up out of any money. One was a person that never paid, so I never shipped. However, if one follows eBay rules, then it is onerous when this happens. The person gets waaaay too much time to actually pay up, and the seller can't re-list the item until the issue is resolved (a certain time frame and reporting structure required by eBay), or you as seller risks getting dinged on your rating. I've had to block certain buyers, and also restrict countries I'll ship to. In addition, I've changed my parameters to never sell to someone below a certain number of transactions, or length of time on eBay. I find it useful to sell items that have some value that I want to get rid of, but it is onerous and can be time consuming. You can have problems with the dishonest individuals.

The issue with a perishable and fragile item such as hatching eggs is another level of potential for fraud. eBay just accepts "they arrived broken" - no need to return, etc. So, the buyer can just lie their way to free stuff.

Years ago I did some buying and selling on eBay. Once I bought a wine cooler. It arrived and it was beat up and dented. It didn't cool at all. I contacted the seller through eBay and was told I could take it to Best Buy and get a brand new replacement. Really?
She stopped responding on eBay altogether so I filed a complaint. She contested it. I looked very closely at the shipping label on the box and found her phone number. I kept calling her and leaving voicemails telling her I sent proof she sold me a cooler salvaged from a dumpster to eBay.
I got all my money back, including the shipping cost.
She emailed me and told me to sent the piece of junk back to her. I told her she needed to send me a postal money order for the shipping cost. Never heard from her again.
There are shysters on both sides of the coin.

There are all kinds of problems with mail too. I can't order from anyone in CA because it goes through one post office that has been keeping eggs for 2 days before sending them on. Other things go right through at that location other than eggs. Everything is just crazy now. Not only do we have to deal with horrible people on ebay but also horrible shipping. You would figure that the post office would have an egg service by now.
