Ducklings! We've got ducklings! Woohoo! 1 Blue Swedish and 2 Ancona
I am soo incredibly excited right now! A-5 was the first the hatch. The humidity must not have been high enough (even though I misted through the vent holes) because the other two were completely zipped through the shell, but not the membrane. It was very tough. So I snatched them up, made sure the veins were absorbed and pulled the little babies out of there. They were so happy, peeping their little heads off LOL
The other two Ancona are well on their way, each with nickel sized holes made. I put a damp towel in there so the hatched ones dont hurt themselves on the wire and to help with humidity. If the unhatched to aren't out when I'm off of work and all the veins are absorbed I'll help them too. I'll have to invest in a good hygrometer for sure next time. Thats probably why the first one took so long to hatch, the membrane was too tough!
The other two Blue Swedish look like late quitters. The one doest even look like it got into the air sack and the other one internally pipped but I don't see any movement. Also there is a large dark patch on the shell so maybe it hit a large blood vessel.
I can't upload pics with my phone but I will try to get some up after work. WOOT! Go duckies
