In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've grown up with various different chickens around, so I guess pretty well my whole life.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
At the moment I have 1 hen and 1 rooster. However this spring I am planning to get chicks of a couple different breeds.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Currently just a pair of Silver Laced Wyandottes. In the past I have bred and raised Barred Rocks, Blue Ameracaunas, Black Australorps, Marraduna Basque, Swedish Flower, and I'm sure a few others I can't remember at the moment.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Fresh eggs, breeding, experiencing different personalities of all the birds.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Horses, horses, horses! And definitely dogs. Various small farm/homesteading ish activities.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I just got married in Sept. '18. We have a 12 acre farm. 6 (going on 7) horses, 2 dogs, 5 cats, and a rabbit. My husband and I are plumbers, and I am also a dog groomer.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Found it a few years ago and have come here for various questions and since I have my own place now, figured I may as well finally join!
