I'm getting a coop...YAHOO! Finished Pics

Those windows were $12.50 each!!!!!!

All that material for $150?

I am so envious - I need to find a lumber yard with finds like that. Mine used to give me free cull wood etc., but that has totally dropped off since the economy went bad.

Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done.

Howabout if you put the run at the back or to the side of the coop, and have the chicken door come out there?

Ventilation is my main question now he wants to know where I want vents. I asked him to make the south wall (right side of coop) mostly or 1/2 removable with hardware cloth under it so it is done. Then I said I need roof vents but now he asked how big or how many? Any ideas would be appreciated.

As for getting into the back it is really not doable the land goes up pretty sharp from the back of the coop and then the property line is also pretty close to that. I like the idea of the drop door in the floor. We will just have to figure out how to keep it secure and easy for the birds to access. I will also have to figure a way to lock it up at night.

I see somebody~!!!

Nothing... Just that if you look, you can see somebody standing in the coop, against the wall.

It looks like a kid.

Well, It looks like hubbies are getting a good rep again. Have him take a look at my nest boxes. I made them with $20 of culled whitewood I got at Lowes.

You could make the door in the floor a slider, only make it where you can open and close it from the back or side of the coop. It would stick out when open so you could easily tell if it was open or closed.

Awesome suggestions you guys and gals. I will add the drop down door because of the what the floor joists are I don't think I could slide it very easy.

Sorry I was a little freaked out about saying you see me. I had a real weirdo on another board that has me a little jumpy.

Thanks for the help. I will post pics when its done. The roof is going on now so I don't think I have much longer.

MY HUBBIE is the BEST!!! He always has a good rap with me. He is taking time from his day to do this for me when he really doesn't like chickens but, he likes me
