I'm getting getting a Heeler! *STARTING PUPPY CLASSES!*

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!! You will have to learn how to be smarter than her.

Balls, frisbees, are great ways to tire her out. You can get an automatic ball tosser at PetSmart. When she gets older, teach her how to put the balls back in so she can keep herself amused.

Spook was a frisbee feind until she tore her ACL at age 8. Across the yard, through the creek, up the hill and catch it with a back flip!! Now it's soccer. We stick her in the goal at the local park and have the younger kids try to get the ball past her. Yeah Right!! She's 11 and they can't make a move on her. Body blocks and headers too, lol. You can't dribble a basketball past her either, she will take it from you everytime!

Buster and others who have Aussie will tell you, find something for her to do, or she will find it herself. What she finds may not be a good thing. Many Aussies end up at the pound or just thrown out (in a graveyard like Spook) because they have sooooooo much energy and can't handle it. I give you a lot of credit for really checking out the breed before you got her.

Thanks Cyn! We love her lots!

Part of the name came after Steve Irwin's daughter Bindi, and then the other came from me wanting to name her an Aussie name. There are a couple towns in Australia named Bindi, so Bindi she is!

Thank you so much! She sure is an energetic girl, even at only 7 wks. old. We feel blessed to have her! If we can get past the "I want to chew your arm off", dingo type behavior, I think we'll have it made in the shade! I have 5 children that I homeschool and that seem to have more energy then anyone person should ever have, so Bindi is set as far as having things to do! lol! Everyone wants to play.

That's great that your dog can do so many things! I have high hopes for Bindi learning to do things like that!

Buster has been a great resource for me! I appreciate all of the wonderful advice that he has given me.

Bindi is 7 weeks old now and growing quickly! One of my very favorite things about her is the way she sleeps with her tongue partially hanging out of her mouth! I wanted to share that with you all, so here's a pic!

Bindi is beautiful, very nice markings on her. How lucky you are to have choosen this smart, energetic, protective and job seeking dog!
We have a red thats three now and other than his strong need to taste and nip things he is a great dog. Trying to get him to not nip is like trying to take out what was bread in. The breed was created to nip cattle just enough without drawing blood and then they duck down to aviod the hoof that comes after. we have a farm and children also the dog takes protecting his herd very seriously and he uses this same nip duck to bite those he feels are threatening is "herd". We have and still are working on this behavior but I just dont trust him. Even at three he can not play without biting rather hard with verbal reminders he stops but soon gets carried away again. He just cant help it. they say the breed is most content not with just people to play with but a real job that keeps them busy. Our dog Red even with all the work in the world still chases his tail and will make it bleed sometimes when he catches it and chews it. He cant be still ever, its sometimes funny sometimes challenging. What he has never done is chewed things that are not his. We keep a huge supply of all sorts of toys and he is very good about chewing what is his only.
I cant wait to see the baby grow and keep us posted. If she becomes a nipper try hard to fix it early i feel it is somewhat my fault for allowing it at all but we got him at 4 months and he seemed so scared all the time and would nervous pee i though the nipping was because he was mis -treated but its the only bad thing I can say about him otherwise he is the perfect farm family protector.

Bindi is now 10 wks. old and we are starting puppy training classes on Wednesday. She is so incredibly smart, I can't wait to see how she does with some training!

Sat. we let the chickens out to free range for the first time since we had Bindi and she did great around them! Two of the hens started to flap their wings and run after something and Bindi acted like she wanted to run after them, but I looked at her and firmly said, "NO!", and she sat right down! This is very encouraging for me. My worst fear was getting her and her turning into a chicken killing machine, instead of being the guard dog I want and need her to be. Sat. was just reassuring to me.
