I had to stop at TSC today for feed. The sound of chirping filled the air. I was in there last week and was very good. I looked at the chicks and walked away. Not so this week. The little rouen duckies stole my heart. I left with 4 of them and 3 asst red straight run. My DH was in the garage when I pulled in, but I sneaked the chick box right by him and hurried to the barn.

I introduced the chicks to my broody australorp who's 10 chicks are about 2 weeks old. She pecked my hand and pushed the chicks under her. The ducks are in my feed room with a heat lamp.

Dh won't notice a few more [IMG]

Okay, maybe I'm not as sneaky as I thought. For some odd reason, unlike any other day, he came out to watch me do chores and play with the goats. He's on vacation this week, so he was around all day while I was at work. (I didn't get to keep my eye on him). Well anyway, momma hen decided to bring her babies outside the barn. DH says "she brought them out earlier today. Did you know there's like 10 of them?" "Oh poop" I'm thinking....
So we're watching the babies for a few minutes and he says...."hey, there are more than 10 aren't there?" I said"maybe" with the cutest smile I could muster. He says "I only counted one brown one today and now there's three." I said "Oh really?" and turned his attention to a goat.

Funny, the only 3 brown ones are the 3 I brought home today.

I guess my plan to stop at agway tomorrow is no good.....
