I'm getting some silkies! Update pics!

OP- I may not be the voice of reason here, but I vote you just pick the ones you like the best. If you don't plan to breed or show, just go for the ones that call to you. You'll know which ones are supposed to come home with you.

Look at the wings by manualy spreading them out. Make sure that the flight feathers are all there or atlease look like they were at some point (some times they loose feathers but they will grow back), check for 5 toes on each foot that are not grown together, blue/black skin, walnut comb (looks wrinkled and bunched together), brownish black eyes, teal blue ear lobe, feathered legs, round body, tightly tucked wings. Thats about all I can think of that you should look for in a silkie. I might be forgetting something though.

Girlinthecountry I agree just pick the ones you are drawn to, I knew the first one I wanted when I saw them. That one is now my roo, he is crowing at 6 weeks one of the cutest things I have ever heard. When I snatched him up I grabbed another which I took also I am thinking girl? One is only crowing, I hatched only one showgirl chick so it needed friends...... so I currently have 3 chicks/chickens on my dining room table until my coop arrives. Makes for interesting conversation and just shows how crazy I really am! LOL.

Adjust the white balance of your camera--can;t tell teh colours because it isn't giving an accurate rendition.

Actually, if you have them under a heat lamp (red or regular light bulb), it will throw off the color of your photos. You can turn it off long enough to get a few pictures and then turn it back on.

They are very sweet! I love the names.
