they ARRRRRRE .... SOOOOO cute

I think it's nifty that they come in so many variations of colors ...

I know I know! But I just got rid of 31 birds to help with feed costs. Getting a bunch more would defeat the purpose!

I made the mistake tonight of telling my husband that I'll be going to the feed store tomorrow with my neighbor and ordering my 30 chickens.

"30 chickens?!!" he says as though it's a HUGE amount. I said it's not so many, 10 are meat birds and the rest might be half cockerels. Then he said "it's a good thing I like chicken".

So, is 30 a huge amount for someone who has NEVER raised chickens before? I'm pretty sure he knows I'm getting 3 more ducks and some guineas (I keep flip-flopping on the guineas). He knows I want to expand the duck flock.....but I thought it best I not mention that bit.

I've got the feed store/new chick bug, too! Also have the "No-no" DH! The chicks were supposed to arrive today, but the clerk told me they won't be in until Thursday. Tick-tock, tick-tock! My DH must have been suspicious, because he had tried to call me here at home THREE times while I was innocently dropping by the feed store! I'm so concerned that my hens won't go broody on the golf balls and plastic Easter eggs!

Besides, Penny is a little Serama bantam. If she raises some chicks, they won't give my DH big breakfast sized eggs! I only want two baby buff orps! Somebody stop me PLEASE!!!! Can't breed Brandy without building a separate coop and run for the bantams because a big roo would be the death of my tiny Pocket roo. What to do? What to do? ........ I KNOW!!!!! It must be time for a feed and seed store trip this Thursday!
