I'm going to force me girls to lay: I bought 18 eggs **UPDATE post 1**

Hey Jenn
Careful what you wish for. We kept waiting for our first egg. Then our first dozen. Now, just in October alone, we had 435 eggs and these girls are not at full production. September was only 143 eggs. So be careful, wishes and idol threats can and do come true. LOL
Keep up the faith, you will get your egg. Some of our girls didn't start until 28 weeks old.

Hey Jenn
My wife just reminded me of great grandma's trick with her hens and what we did to get a few of ours laying. Mix up a small batch of plain old corn meal mixed with a good dose of red pepper flakes with a bit of water to make a mush. Feed that to them. We got eggs the next day. Coincidence or not we are not sure. But we do this about every 6 weeks and it seems to help stimulate production. Never could hurt to try with yours.

Mine are going to be 22 weeks old this Wednesday, and I'm finally getting eggs - well, an egg, every other day. So far three

I'm sure it's just one hen, the eggs are small (first was half peewee on the egg scale, second was between peewee and small, third was a strong small, so they're getting bigger each lay

) I'm still buying eggs from the egg farm around the corner.

I figured "what the heck" so I bought a bag of pepper in the hispanic aisle of the grocery store. I mixed it with the corn and am going to give it to the chickens tomorrow. If it somehoe promotes laying, so be it. And if not, the girls got a tasty treat.

I'm not holding my breath.
