Probably not the normal worry but I'm approaching lockdown on shipped bantam eggs, 10 where set, 9 are still thriving...
My previous hatch yielded 4 out of 20 eggs, (first chickens) and I presumed that was prob the norm. I thought being lucky I may get upto 4 or 5 but even that exceeded the last hatch rate.
My coop/run can accommodate 8, if all make it through lockdown to hatch, ive asked around if anyone wants a few day olds but no takers as of yet.
What are the chances tho!

Haha. I had the same "problem" with my recent hatch. I bought chicks while I was waiting for my shipped eggs (took like 4 months to get them). I had 10 eggs that looked like keepers on day 17, and thought for sure I was going to have to sell or give away some.

But... it turned out only 5 hatched. We ended up keeping them all. Let us know how it goes for you!

Counting your chickens before they hatch?
Are you planning on keeping all the male chicks? Gotta assume around half will be males so if you get rid of them or most of them you should be fine.

Perhaps I just need to trust the process and try not to quote "count my chickens before they hatch"
I will be able to keep one roo any more would not make for happy hens. initially I was going to try and rehome but I've now realised mostly a rehomed Rooster is just food in someone else's belly so I'm coming round to the idea of feeding my own.
