Can't help with the tree, the road rash, the broken step or the dented lawn... but Murphy's Oil Soap and COLD water will get the stink off ya. I used to have a dog that had a notorious affinity for skunks. He'd catch 3 or 4 every year - and often bring them - ALIVE - back to me. We both got several cold baths with MOS. The cold water part is important (at least with the dog) because hot water will cause the hair's surface to open and take in more of the musk.

anyhow, would you believe me if i said that my friends and family didn't even blink at the story? This sort of weird stuff happens to me a lot. I think I disturbed an ancient pilgrim burial ground or something.

my friends, WickedNerd included, have dubbed random and strange events that occur to me and the people around me "Kristen moments".

This is how frequently things like exploding sewer lines happen.

Granted some of these things I bring on myself...and others... like getting WickedNerd and I chased by cows as teenagers....

anyhow, should I start dubbing all my friends as members of the "Helmet Club" now?

Honestly, I find this all very funny. I don't get angry or even upset about it. At least not any more. I'm sitting here chuckling about the fall while my family is horrified. I'm not b adly hurt so it's funny.

Maybe my amusement is ticking off the powers that be.

I'm wondering. Without question I am protected by 'GOOD' guardian angels. In instance upon instance upon instance upon instance u pon ---- well you get the idea they have interceded in my behalf. Including the story of how I met the Princess. (But that's another chapter.) Maybe you just have mischievous guardian angels/spirit guides? Maybe someone from a former life is tormenting you?

Ok, I've got a confession. Two and a half months ago I collected a "smell". My brother killed a possum and instead of throwing over the fence, he threw it in the tall grass next to my garden. Several days later I took the tractor over to shred the grass and the putrid possum's posterior landed on my head. It had to land on my head, the one place I wasn't covered with some kind of clothing. Even my eyes was covered with goggles. Well, I couldn't get the smell out of my hair or beard, luckily my eyebrows were covered, so I had to shave my hair and beard off. I looked like a cue ball. Fortunately hair grows back, but still.
I also have a cow story, a dead bloated cow story. And I'm not going there.

*sigh* I guess it was my turn today.

It started with the micro ticks - you know, the first instars, hundreds of them, each smaller than the period at the end of this sentence. I don't know what I brushed against, but I suddenly realized that they were all over me. I changed my clothes, but it wasn't enough; at odd moments throughout the day, I'd feel something tiny crawling on me.

Then I slipped on the back steps. No major damage done, just a bruise on the top of my left foot from ankle to big toe. Makes wearing a shoe - um - interesting.

Shortly before I had to leave to go to the farm to feed the horses, the power went off at the house.

A couple of hours later, DH and I got home at the same time, to see that the power had come back on almost an hour before. Unfortunately, it appears that the foot valve on the well may have failed, and the pump sat there running for an hour with no water in it. While we have adequate supplies of drinking water, there are 4 people living in this house, 3 of which spent significant parts of the day outside in 90 degree weather and high humidity. Without the ability to shower, things in this house would have been very grim. Fortunately, we are on good terms with our nearest neighbors (in spite of our roosters and barking dogs!). With the use of a couple hundred feet of garden hose and some creative plumbing in the pump house, we are "borrowing" water from the neighbor until the well/pump can be seen to. Here's hoping that the pump itself is all right.
