I'm guessing 2 weeks is too soon to tell, but any thoughts...

Here's one. So, going by the information on the links and article I posted above, cockerel or pullet? I knew from the moment it fluffed up.

***Will tell you if you're right after you guess. Both pics are the same chick.

Here are my BR chicks, at two weeks of age: (Both have dark markings on legs) I thought one was a Roo and one was a Pullet, but the guy I gave Binny to said both were pullets.

I think they are both pullets in my group, any corrections? Also I heard with BR the pullets get their wing/tail feathers earlier.

Those are pullets, yes. Here is an 11 day old BR cockerel for comparison. You may not want to only go by dark on the legs. Some show lines do not have that. You must take all three traits as a whole to make the call.

Here is a pair--you can see the difference:

Wow, your 11 day olds already have their primaries in! I can't help but cheat when I see feathers, however what you say does line up with what I see from the feathers. So here is the chart I made (since I'm a visual learner):

Barred sexing guide
------------------------------ pullet --------------- cockerel

spot size ------------------ smaller -------------- larger
spot outline -------------- regular & clean ---- ragged
leg and down color ----- darker --------------- lighter

What weighting do I give each attribute?

wow!!! you guys are awseome. so based on this I'm guessing I have a girl!!! I'm hoping....what do you think? Her spot is uniform, her legs have a some dark spots on them,......I really really want this one to be a hen!

Now that I am looking at these I see how much poo is on that sheet. Yuk! Time for a new picture backdrop.

Wow, what an old thread! Yes, that was a cockerel. The band of "frosting" across the back of the head tells the tale.

Unfortunately, that looks a lot like one of our baby chicks!! Sorry to resurrect an old thread!
