Im hatching eggs from my Frost white legbars & white silkie roo cross. Anyone interested to come along for the ride and see how the chicks turn out?

If the lavender Orp fathered any they should hatch black or mostly black.
If the silkie fathered any they should hatch yellow.
That'll make it easy to know the father's. If the silkie is the father they should also hatch as sex links. The females will have dark skin more like the silkies and the males will have light skin.
Wow! Good to know. I had no idea. I hatched a small batch last summer from my tiny old english game hens. The chicks all turned out to be fathered by Casper.with extra toes. Except one. And she was solid black. So that one was Big Boy's baby. She turned out very beautiful and small. And all 3 of the baby roos had pale skin legs . The two girls have dark skin legs. So it must be true. Its crazy , my old english game hen ladies are soooo tiny . I initially thought, theres no way that Big Boy could even mate with them, but ive seen since then, that he just squats over her! Haha.. like hes sitting on her and his feathers completely cover her. He squats and its done. Haha.

I woke up to see one of the eggs has a little pip!

Do not help it out no matter what. I had some Guinea fowl hatch and the two that I helped out of the shell died. One passed peacefully and the other I needed to stop its suffering. It was not fun, but I was not about to let a 12 hour old chick suffer.
The one I needed to euthanize, its neck was bent to its body and could not walk, just turn in circles. Have three healthy ones in the brooder though!! The sick chick would turn in circles on the ground, kicking its legs.
