I own a 5.5acre farmstead in northeast Oklahoma that I am in process of converting half into a native food forest and rewilding the other half into tall grass prairie, and creating wetlands in the middle for rain capture.
I am still pretty new to ducks, and currently have cayugas, silver appleyards, muscovies, and two white hens that are either white layers, or (not jumbo) pekins that I bought from a divorce sale. (She didn't know the breed.) I started out just wanting a few ducks for eggs, but am expanding to meat and breeding. This year, my only mature drakes were Cayugas, who have recently been rehomed. My long-term goal is to have 6 hens and 1 drake of each breed. They currently have a 10'x20' coop, and a 2500 sqft fenced in pen with a 10x13x3 natural pond, and two sizes of swimming pools. Am hoping to add another 750sqft to their run by end of year, and add three smaller runs so I can separate by breed for spring breeding.
