I have eaten real apples picked directly from a tree since I was a little bitty kid.

Many kinds of apple trees will not produce apples if they don't have sufficient cold hours during the winter. They may grow very well but not produce any fruit.

That does not apply equally to everyone. For instance, Chef Mike comes to mind.

Also depends on the type of food. Some things are easier to make at home than others.

I had a big problem though. When I was young I was allergic to wasps. And they loved when the pears fell and started rotting they were everywhere on the ground cause they eventually got drunk from the fermenting fruit and couldn't fly

This winter I have to see about pruning my apple tree. It has been growing wild for who knows how many years. The apples are small but tasty.
