I'm in love (alternatively .... what did I do?)

It has been three weeks since I got the call from the post office. In that time, as you all already know, my 8 chicks have gone from puffballs to dinosaurs. I have watched, mesmerized and enchanted, as they eat and poop and sprout strange growths from their bodies. I've lost one in a long, slow, inexplicable decline (RIP Lulu). I'm paranoid that my SS is a rooster (those feet!). I wonder: am I designing enough ventilation into the coop? Is peat moss or organic top soil better for dust bathing? Why won't Rosie use the nipple drinkers?!?

Every google search leads to backyardchickens.com. I love the tone and nature of the threads, the wisdom of the masses. I have read all of the usual books, which are wonderful. But they can only ever be one person's perspective. This is a community and I appreciate the differing perspectives.

So I figured I would join and introduce myself before I needed to send an SOS. Thanks in advance!

G'Day from down under HeyHo :frowWelcome!

Great intro; thank you for sharing! :clap

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your dinosaurs, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
