I've hatched 2 turkey poults (they are less than a week)...OMG I am in love. They let me hold them and pet them and they just fall sleep.

Their names are Tiny Turkey and Wee Willie (cause he's willie willie cute)

I bought my first two turkey poults back in May. A Royal Palm and a Blue Slate. To my delight, the RP is a tom, and the BS is a hen. They are just delightful! They make the most interesting sounds, and they co-exist nicely with my chickens.......

Just wait until they get big, and if you have a tom, it's truly awesome to see them display for you and hear the gobbling! Mine are very friendly and curious, and surprisingly peaceful birds.

They're a couple of lucky birds, because I have decided not to eat them, because I like them soooo much. (My husband just rolls his eyes at me.) LOL

Aren't they incredible?? I'm new to turkeys because in the beginning of June, a stray cat brought one to me - in it's mouth!! I wasn't sure what it was, but found photos of poults that matched up. So I kept him warm and pecked my finger at food to "teach him" to peck... and he survived! He lived in the house when he was little, till I made him a big house (and fenced enclosure) and got him a friend. I could write a book about the bond we have. He slept with me, curled up under my chin or under the blanket in my arm. He would roost on my shoulder, We play "tag". I never in a million years would have thought I could love ANY species of bird so much. They are a joy in my life and I can watch them for hours.

And yeah, only toms gobble, the male turkeys will start to do it as they get older... but both genders make a wide range of awesome noises!
