I'm in need of a free rooster

A rooster will tear your hen's back up by mounting her continuously if he doesn't have other ladies to attract his attention. I'd skip the roo and get her some fertile eggs, or slip some one-day-old chicks under her at night, if she's broody. The advantage of that is that you might be able to purchased all females from a hatchery...

I need a free rooster near Ozark MO. I only have one hen left and I have no roosters. And my hen is desperately trying to hatch some eggs that are unfertalize. She is very lonely now that all her friends got murdered. I have very little money so if the rooster needs to be shipped I might be able to pay for shipping depending on the cost. Please contact me if you have a rooster I could have.

Thank you for trying to help, but I got a bunch of sillies from there this spring and they all died from a raccoon. I have already spent over $200 on chickens and supplies. I am also not looking for baby chicks right now. I need adult chickens to keep my only other adult chicken company. Sorry, I appreciate your help.

You said your hen was trying to hatch infertile eggs? Why are you letting her have them?
Sounds like a coon got to your other chickens. I would recommend making your coop/run more predator proof before bringing in other chickens.
I would not suggest looking for a rooster if that one hen is the only one you have. She will be over mated and terrorized.
Take the eggs away from her, break her of any broodiness and search for some pullets to keep her company.
Good luck

you can usually find a lot of free roosters on craigslist, but if you're not up to that you can buy rather cheap hatching eggs off ebay, your hen will probably accept them. There's bound to be at least 1 rooster if you get 5-6. I hope this kinda helped

I wish you the best of luck on finding a rooster :hugs

Here’s a free one not too far from you in Ava

And a Silkie pair for just $15 right next to you in Nixa

I have so many chicks hatching these days that I don't have room to house all of them. I've been taking the surplus to our local livestock auction, where chicks routinely go for as low as a quarter each. You might try an auction if you live close to where one is held. The roosters very often for as low as $1, and I see people trying to give away roosters on Craigslist a lot. Personally, I think I'd get her some fertilized eggs or slip some day old chicks under her during the night. One rooster to one hen isn't a good ratio for the hen- she'll get too much attention from the rooster and might end up more miserable than being lonely. I'm in Missouri, too, but way up north.
