With autosexing breeds, we tend to cull extra cockerels as chicks though. Less feed bill, and we still end up with a surplus of roosters from other breedings to eat.
 
I never get attached to roosters. We eat a lot of roosters. We always skin them, its easier than plucking. lol
I purchased 3 hens 3 yrs ago to use as broody hens but only 1 of them has gone broody since I added my rooster. I'm replacing him next year with one of his own chicks .They're only 6 weeks old
