Here's a blog from a decent acquaintance of mine. Maybe something can be learned. He is trying to recreate the Sazanami Long-Tailed (a breed that went extinct a while ago). While he does use pure Onagadori chickens and Barred Plymouth Rocks I feel it is quite relevent to this project. He'll be starting his 3rd generation soon.

LOL, you can only manage it by not thinking of them as pets I guess. That's how my brother put it.

Worming all the flocks. The silkies I have arn't gaining weight like they should and some have loose poops.
