I'm In Rooster-Love Today...Photogenic boys

Well, I'm to the point of trying to get my 11 month old pullet, Kira, in with the youngsters. Well, the boys know what that bright red comb means and they are after her with a vengeance. She will not defend herself at all. And this bunch is just 13 weeks old! Glad I didn't wait longer to start the integration process! I thought we'd show those little hooligans that they aren't so tough and put them all in with the laying flock, where my splash Ameraucana, Snow, managed to trounce #3 cockerel's bum. At first he would not back down, but he underestimated Snow, who is half his height, but she taught him to Respect the Splash! They were chased a little bit, but not really all that much. Then I opened the gate, called them, and all seven Delawares followed me back to their own pen and into the gate, just like ducklings following mama, LOL. They were relieved to be safe from those Big Evil Women. Still, the boys saw Kira and chased her all over the pen. (Dutch wasn't in the pen or there might have been some bloodshed, LOL).
How I'm going to integrate Kira with these kids is something I'm not really sure about.

Poor Kira, maybe you better borrow some of these lesser pullets until you get some girls grown out. Those boys can be tough!

Course none of these challenge either George or BEAR - she woman cockeral beater.

Another couple I took today of the three guys when I was checking wing carriage on them.

Learning that all older women do NOT like to be grabbed by the headfeathers, LOL. Or, as I call it, "LET ME OUT OF HERE! She's trying to KILL me!". And no, Jordan, that is not a Turken in the last picture; that is my badly molting Glenda, my Orp/Brahma cross.

There's just something about a bright white Delaware with contasting black barring and the bright red comb against a deep green carpet of grass, isnt there? This was the first time they had ever been on actual grass and out of a pen. They were lovin' it!
