Okay all, I'm rethinkinig the hen who layed the eggs. I got another one this morning

. It was under the roosts this time and it's another small one but perfect otherwise. So I'm thinking one of my bantys layed them. They're brown and approx 2 inches long maybe a tad longer. But my bantys are only 18 weeks this coming weekend. I'll get the pics up as soon as my sleepyhead daughter gets out of bed.

And I talk to my chickens in my dreams so when I'm awake it's really bad.

Okay, here are the pics of our little eggs. And a comparison to a "normal egg".

Is it possible that my new layer would've layed 2 today? I gathered the one she layed this morning and when I went out this evening about 5pm there was another one. Same size, same color.

It does seem like it takes forever. When my daughter was on photobucket posting the above pics. We were looking at all the ones of the chickens when they were babies. WOW!! The changes are amazing. I like them older than when they were babies. Now I can hang out with them in the pen or coop and interact in there envrionment. My EE's have gotten so loving.

Someone said if they were lucky their chicken might lay a green egg. Is there really such a thing as green eggs? If so why would that be a good thing?

Got a food question: when should we stop feeding our girls the starter food. It says it is medicated, and I am thinking I don't want them eating it when they are laying eggs we will eat.

Yes! one of my hens lays green eggs. Its a good thing because, a green egg! How cool is that! There are breeds that lay blue eggs too! My green egg layer is called an Easter Egger. The eggs of course, are normal on the inside. Once they start laying, usually around 6 months, also depending on weather, they do not need starter anymore. I stopped my starter at about 10 weeks or so, when the second bag ran out! One of my brown egg layers eggs actually come out almost a pink color compared to the other brown eggs. Its fun to have different colors of eggs, makes a pretty basket in the fridge!
