I am just getting started with chickens and do not want to order any from a hatchery... 25 chickens is too many to start with for me. I am trying to find individuals that I might be able to buy some from. I am looking for sexed chickens if possible. I want a pair of Rhode Island Reds, a New Hampshire roo, a pair of Barred Rocks, a female White Rock, a pair of Silver Laced Wyandottes, a pair of Black Australorpes, a pair of Golden Laced Wyandottes, a pair of Buff Orpingtons, a female White Leghorn, a female Black Minorca, and a pair of Araucanas. If you have any of these chickens I would love to hear from you! You can email me at [email protected]... I just got a few mixed chickens and they got me hooked... I can never get enough of them!

that is a lot of roosters - you'll have problems unless you have seperate coops/cages for each pair.

your hens will be overbred (tears their backs up) and the roosters will tear each other up fighting over too few hens.

just a suggestion, but you might want to read a little in here before making a decision on what to get. My first chickens were a roo and a bunch of mixed hens (black australorps, barred rock, new hampshire reds, etc...)

the general rule is (in one coop/group) about 1 rooster for every 8-10 hens.

good luck with your flock.

from NM. BUT I was born and raised in Roanoke, VA for the first 22 years!!! Meri is right, unless you are able to pen them separate, they will fight when they get to be breeding age. Sorry.

I do plan on keeping my roosters separate. This is a list of the breeds I might hope to acquire over a long period of time. I am trying to find anyone in the area that might have any of these breeds. Thank you for the advise!
