I'm just sick, the dog ate my 2 chicks.

A Yorkie Australian shepherd mix? How is that even possible. I'd say it was the Yorkie side that did it. They're were trained to kill mice. What an odd cross of dog. I know random. Sorry.
šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I agree about the odd mix and said the same thing. The parents belong to my neighbor. The dad is the Yorkie. Mom is an Australian Shepherd. The neighbor didn't think her Yorkie could do the deed so she was very surprised and dismayed to realize her mistake. Needless to say her Yorkie is now fixed.... šŸ˜‚

My little guy's looks have changed quite a bit. He started out looking like his mom and now looks like a Corgi/Yorkie mix (long body, short legs). He's 30 lbs now and stands about 15" tall.

So sorry! I have a Husky (1/4 lab) and I for sure can’t trust her as far as I can spit (which isn’t far). We are actually putting hot wire fencing around our chicken coop and run. She has made it over their 2x and has harassed them. Luckily she didn’t get any but once came REALLY close. She is only a year old but because of her breed, I don’t think I will be able to trust her ever. My Rottweiler on the other hand is a little older. She is just so gentle. We had some rescue kittens about a year ago, that were just dumped (still bloody and one had an umbilical cord still). The whole time she would just watch them. She loved it. Now she is 2 and still does great. HOWEVER, with all that said, I still wouldn’t trust her. And not that I think she would hurt them to kill them, but by playing with them. Yesterday I had her out with me watching the chickens and she just laid by me. Until she seen crickets….then it was chasing crickets.

When we had them in house, the dogs were either outside in their kennel area out there, or if I couldn’t watch both of them, they were in their inside kennels. Especially the Husky. I would have tried baby gates to keep them out of the room the chicks were in but it would have only worked for the Rottweiler, she is lazy and won’t jump over them,…the Husky would have in a heartbeat.

I hope you can find a solution and that the new ones you have hatching make it! Again I’m so sorry for you lose!

Sorry about your chicks, I had a blue heeler one time and 2 chicks in a box. The blue heeler pulled one out, and licked it to death. (We found the chick not chewed just wet.) When it died she felt so bad she didn't want to get near the other chick, and she never went near a chicken again.
Hubby is fiending for a couple of blue heelers. Ay yi yi.

Well I came home from work to find nothing in the brooder. The border collie Got in the house, my grandson left the door open on accident. I guess I didn't deserve them, so much for being a chicken mom. I've got 22 in the incubator, it won't happen twice. I'm58, I should know better than To leave them unguarded in a cardboard box hoping To leave them unguarded in a cardboard box hoping a door would keep them safe.
I had a border collie we found years ago.
It killed one of my ducks, the little hen that could fly really good.
I took the dog to the humane society after that. We didn't want a dog that would kill things. My beagle/bluetick was great with them.
