I'm kinda upset about rescue centers.

Most rescue places are dependent on donors like you and me. If they don't get donations, often they work an extra job and pay all expenses, meds, and surgeries out of their own pockets.

If I ran a rescue center I wouldn't adopt birds to someone that turned them out in an unfenced area unsupervised. While I was home I had 6 birds killed by a dog last year. I was on the other side of the house weeding, by the time I ran around the house the dog had already dispatched three. If my birds weren't fenced with electric netting I would have them snatched by coyotes frequently, as I have seen them go over my 4 foot chainlink fence with ease.

This made me laugh to. You know, in reality though, I can see why someone who owned a duck in town as a pet would have a totally different picture of what it meant to be a duck owner. I am surprised that the shelter doesn't allow for free ranging when that is all the rage right now though (and in my opinion a better life for the animal overall). Anybody else think its funny that you can charge more for free ranged eggs when in reality it means the farmers food bill is less?

This made me think of looking up a waterfowl rescue org in my state, and Oh my goodness I want them all!
