Oh, like champagne must come from the champagne region for France, roquefort must come from a specific cave, etc.?

How does this relate to chickens? (I do believe there is something about using the breed name of marans, though)

its like the Pullet de Breese in France. They have the D.O.C. on this breed so, no other counrty can name them the same. In the US they named them (Pullet de Breese )blue footed. we're intrested in doing the same with a breed named "Black Maltese"
