I think she has pine chips stuck and choking on it. She eats pine chips non stop and now she is breathing funny. I can hear it in her throat. Maple is gasping for air constantly and will lay under the heat lamp. She is still eating and drinking, but I don't think she will make it.

She eats pine chips more then her food and is real skinny. There is no other chick that does that and the pine chips come out in her poo. I can't see what she is choking on, but I hear it. Perhaps, there will be a miracle and she will be okay. She still is breathing. Is there anything I can do?

Update, I massaged her throat and crop all last night and put her in the warm brooder with tge little ones. I put grit in the brooder and gave her olive oil in some wet starter. Maple has improved drastically. She is only gasping once in a while and it's a softer gasp. Her poop is mostly pine chips, so she must be passing it through. I'm more then thrilled! I was about to give her a drop of olive oil, but since she is chirping and acting more normal I will wait.

I had one chick with a crawl full of pine chips once. She did not seem in
distress though like yours is. I went outside and scooped up some sandy dirt
and put it in for the chicks to eat. If you have grit it may help to give that.
Next morning the crawl was softer and the chick did well sure hope this works
for you. Hope your chick will recover.

Can you segregate her to where she can't eat the pine chips? Change all the bedding to aspen, which is too big for her to eat. Change all the bedding to shredded newspaper or to sand. She is going to die of malnutrition if not from choking on the pine chips.

She is hanging in there. I gave her some olive oil in her food, but it has not worked. I'm praying she passes this through. What a tough little girl. I'm happy she is eating and drinking.

We do have the course wood chips. They are the bigger pieces.

I'm putting her out in the coop real soon. She can't be separated from the big girls too long, she really depends on them and they are going in the coop today. Maple will be 5 weeks on Tuesday.

Ms.Frizzle :

Did you get her recently, ie, has she never experienced wood chips before?

I've had her for 4 weeks. She has been eating shavings for day one. I always wondered if it was a problem.
