I'm making a free flock management system

I think that your Idea is good as it is, i like what info you have on the start tab, also you might add the total number of chicks, adults and hatching eggs currently in possesion(kinda just a fun fact of the day)

I know I may be jumping ahead, but on the your flock tab. would have number of hens # of roos, breeding pens and whats in them, leg band numbers and year and colors breed and line they came from for each chicken.

Awesome! Flock records:

Chicken band #, breed, sex, date of birth, description, health notes, date of death, cause, parentage (if applicable)

Also think the dichotomous key for ailments is good, if you're up for that...

I agree, and how about maybe a place to put a pic? Maybe a place for defects? I have a girl that has a messed up beak.

very interesting!

It is isn't it Germaine. I have high hopes and am getting anxious. Just had to look up and figure out the ages of my birds AGAIN the other day!

This is where you can see the project book that the 4-H (in our area) is using now. I guess the 1 thing that really doesn't apply to ducks is the cock/hen section. Waterfowl are different as they go by drake/duck , gander/goose It would be great to seperate out by type of bird as 1 of my kids has guineas, a duck and a chicken for his project this year. Another has ducks and chickens. As far as printing out that I'm not good at. I know I for 1 do not have Microsoft Word and this does make life difficult as it seems everyone else does. I can read from word, but not do anything with it such as copy and paste, etc. Had a trial version in which I created documents and now I can only read them and can not make any changes to them.

http://www.openoffice.org is a free office suite that can do everything Microsoft Office can. It's what I use. But that would mean an extra download for anyone who wanted reports and who didn't have Word.

Could you try using a .PDF?

Do you know how to make a pdf with python? I've looked but can't find anything. Right now I'm leaning towards making a .html file and automatically opening it in the user's default browser. There could be java-script in the page to print it.
