I'm small organic poultry farmer with about 350 birds, I sell eggs but I have to admit it does not pay the bills. I just like having a lot of chickens around. So I have some hard working girls that carry their weight and a lot of birds that are pets. I have a few guineas, a few turkeys, some doves, a handful (literally) of pigeons and a number of heritage breed chickens. But unfortunately my favorite are turkens and silkies. The turkens are wonderful layers and the silkies are top notch mothers ( I'm sure you all know) but they bo not a farm make. So I have RIRs, and other laying breeds to compliment my Doms and Chanteclers for eggs production. Also Spitzhabens.....and many others.
I'm a retired school teacher, who lives on a small organic farm with my husband, who is a wonderful sport...most of the time. Hates baby chicks in the shower.
