Just introducing myself. I'm an older SF is semi-self-sufficient, trying to make a go of it in Texas. I live on 6 acres and just got my girls 8 weeks ago (2 Buff Orphingtons, 2 Gold Sex-Links, 2 S-L Wydondottes, & 3 mystery birds which I am sure are cockerals). Built my own coop, thanks to my neighbor's roof & Hurricane Ike, with lots of wood & tin roofing left over for another project! (The back of my property is a hoarder's dream of building materials!)

My current project is to train my little terrier to leave the girls alone! He does okay for a few minutes, & then starts "tweaking"! And then he lunges, I don't know if I can break him of this! (Except maybe getting some geese

!)

These are the kids & that' s Marty. He never tried anything in the house & slept next to the tub, until they went out to the 'big' house....Now, he doesn't torment them at all except when I go out to check on them. But as I said, his instinct starts to kick in...
Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

Unfortunately terriers are bred to kill small animals, and can be pretty challenging at times. Definately do not trust your dog around the birds, as once they kill one they are never reliable again. good luck and you may want to do a search above on dog training .
