I'm new to Back Yard Chickens!

Hi everyone! I'm new here and just thought I'd introduce myself. Everyone at my house calls me Amma. I was born in Kentucky, raised by my Southern parents, I have the sweetest husband in the whole world (been married 43 years and I'm still crazy about him), 2 beautiful daughters, 2 son-in-loves, and 6 beautiful grandchildren who live within walking distance of my home.
I am blessed.

I've had chickens for 10+ years now, and I really enjoy them. Currently, my flock is 100% RIRs. Great breed! I had about 35 RIRs but had to re-home 26 of them this past fall due to a scheduled surgery; nine birds are easier to care for, and my big feeders and waterers, when filled, last a couple months. This got me through the "6 weeks before you can do anything" post-surgery time line, and they help greatly through the long, cold Michigan winters, where we live.

Welcome Anna, hope you are recovering well. Being from Kentucky myself Howdy Neighbor. I live in Western Kentucky and have a flock of 12, 11 hens mostly Astrolorpe, 1 mixed breed rooster. This site has great people and a load of info on most any question you can think of. So Welcome and jump right in.
