I have just started started raising my own Chickens about 6 months ago! I love them so much & I want to learn everything I can about them so I can be the best little chicken rancher I can be for them! I raised them all from little chicks. I have 4 White Leghorns & 5 Rhode Island Reds for Hens & 1 White Leghorn Rooster named "Brooster the Rooster". My hens have just started laying small eggs about 2 weeks ago & 2 of the hens are actually sitting on the eggs in their nesting boxes. I am so excited to see if any of them hatch!
Any suggestions or information that anyone would like to share with a brand new Chicken Rancher would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Congratulations on getting eggs.) You have some excellent laying breeds. If you haven't done so already, definitely our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your hatch.

Congratulations on your success with your first flock. You seem to be a natural at raising them. Hope you will post photos when your broody hens hatches more chicks.

You'll be getting lots of eggs with Leghorns and RIR's in your flock! Have fun learning about poultry and enjoy your chickens. Do you have names for your birds? Feel free to ask questions, share stories & pictures...just make yourself at home here.

It's nice to have you here!

Welcome to BYC, LuckyEggRancher! It is so exciting to get new chicks, raise them to laying age, and then find that first egg. The satisfaction that results can only be gained by the process in its entirety. You will not find many things in life that are more rewarding. I'm a few years older than you, but already poultry has made an impact on me at a young age so that I will never be without chickens or ducks in the time to come. Best wishes to you and your flock!
