All right, first of all I'd like to ask WHERE exactly chicken shows are held that are in New England? You see, I live in NH so I don't want to have to travel to far since it won't be good for my chickens. Second, which chickens are the BEST for showing out of NH Reds, RIRs, Barred Rocks, Americaunas, and Bantams. I'll post some pics on which ones I think are the best of my babies on the Pictures and Stories of my Chickens section.

You'll have to search online to find shows near you. Try finding a poultry club, that should hook you up the best and you should hear something from one of them if a show's going to roll around. As for what breeds are best to show, there is no best bird to show. Pick whichever one you want to work with the most.

You can also show chickens at your county fairs (usually held at the end of the summer).

Do you have a 4-H office near you? They'd probably be able to give you some information, even if you're not of the age to be in 4-H.

The Northeast Poultry Congress, the largest show in the northeast is January 17-18 in West Springfield, MA. People from all over the country attend this show and several thousand birds are shown. I'd highly recommend going. If you're looking to enter, there's still time. The entry form is on the site (http://www.poultrycongress.com).
Here's a thread on the show.. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=103455

Here's
a list I put together of last year's fall shows in New England (many of these also hold spring shows):

Eastern NY State Poultry Association (NY) - Sept 28
Central Maine Bird Fanciers Fall Show (ME) - Oct 5
Little Rhody Poultry Fanciers Fall Show (RI) - Oct 25
NH Poultry Fanciers (NH) - Oct 12
Yankee Fall Classic (NY) - Oct 18-19
Boston Poultry Exposition (North Oxford, MA) - Nov 2
Northeastern Poultry Congress (West Springfield, MA) - Jan 17-18, 2009

Bantam breeds are more popular for showing than LF breeds.
