Good morning. I've joined to become more informed and therefor better equipped to take care of my chickens. I don't plan on having more than six at any one time and currently have five RI Red Rooster/Delaware Hen hybrids that are producing extremely well. However one decided to go broody on me about three weeks ago and she has been a monster with no getting out of the funk from what I can tell. Anyhow I want to build an automatic coop coop opener and have seen some great ideas on this site and hope to make a decision as to which one I'm going to take on as a project. I really like the automatic antenna idea and will be asking questions as I go along. Glad to be part of the family and you will hear from me often. Have a great day.

Welcome to BYC! You have a good group of layers. TwoCrows has given you a good link to check out. Good luck with your flock and in getting your automatic coop door opener.

Is you broody actually sitting on fertile eggs or are her efforts for naught? If you want to break her of her broodiness there are plenty of suggestions regarding that. If she has fertile eggs and hatches the brood, she will start acting like more like a mother and less of a pain in the backend.

The pain he neck broody has broken out of her funk and is laying an egg per day. Snapped of her situation without an signs and was the same as flipping a light switch. She's sill scraggly but fully functional. Thanks for your assistance.
