Hi there,
I just joined the group. I belong to PDXbackyardchix yahoo group that was formed in Portland, OR. We just moved to Sequim, WA onto my husband's family farm. We moved from a small city plot urban farming to 100 acres of open farm land and woods. We are looking forward to adding A LOT of birds to our small flock of 9. We are looking forward to incubating chicks this spring. Does anyone have good advice of what kind of incubator to get. Looking to spend $100 or less.

the #1588 electronic thermostat from gqf call the genesis hova-bator is 138.00 without turner, but it has a plastic liner, humidity and temp gauge built in the electronic thermostat, set it and forget it, just add water every few days. it has an adaptor to run on house current, but is 12 volt dc, when you have a power outage you can use a car or lawn mower battery. full viewing window, turbo fan. the best Styrofoam incubator out at this time. just a little more than the 100 you wanted to spend but well worth it.

Welcome and enjoy!
Steve.

Greetings from Texas! We're on one acre and have a small flock of 14 free-range hens that we share with our neighbors. Sounds like you're going to be ready for big time. Best wishes in your endeavor.
