I'm not a chicken idiot...

I hope you didn't do like me and bring in bugs with your hay. My hens had never had a bug until I put hay in the coop. I learned my lesson. I just use the wood chips now.

Franklin, NC, huh? Do you buy Countryside Organic Feed through a co-op? I'm very close by in Hiawassee.

Ack, I hope not. I had sprinkled some food grade diatomaceous earth over the top when I put it down -Just in case.

No Country wide here. We buy at a local store. The hay was in a big truck carrier. I use purina or go to tractor supply for feed. I think I have gotten rid of them for the time being. I changed out the litter area, sprayed it with sevin and then put some permetrine in the chips.
With this change of weather its no telling what we all may face in the way of disease this yr. I nor my chickens like the suddeness of this.
I have a good coop and run set up so they are not in drafts. I also use the cookie tin with the light in it to keep their water from freezing. No water in the coop.

Oh... I did not know that. If there were any bugs I guess they'll eat them. Are the bugs harmful if they ingest them?
