I'm starting up my first hatch. so help me out please. when I candle my eggs on day 5 of incubating. I noticed that some of the eggs have a bubble that moves freely as i turn the egg. I have the idea that they are bad now and i should toss them. Please tell me that i'm wrong, that i should wait to see what happens. I'm just so sad thinking about the scenarios of what if...

um. I don't think they're supposed to have a bubble. I think that's a bad sign.

Yes you have a broken air cell. I have those on a bunch of my shipped eggs. I was told that to get a good hatch out of those you need to hatch them in an egg carton so the air cell will stay where it needs to stay, otherwise I don't think that the chick will be able to find it.

thanks...i'll try that. but they don't seem to be developing like the others. no dark spot or viening. just a dark yolk. i believe it to be fertile...but just never developed and died at an early stage.

Give them a while. I had a few broken air cells (completely free floating air bubble in the egg) that I thought were totally scrambled. I propped them in an egg carton anyway. . .they are now all developing normally. So we'll see what happens. . .
